There is so much wildlife to see in the immediate area.  Whether it is the magestic Osprey (which has been seen flying over the house), the normally shy Otter, inquisitive Dolphins or basking Seals there is much to appreciate of our rich natural heritage.  Beavers have been recently reintroduced into the area and may be seen wild in nearby Knapdale forest http://www.scottishbeavers.org.uk/.

Birdlife

The area is a haven for birdlife.  Buzzards fly overhead, Ospreys dive for fish in Loch Craignish, ducks and geese circle before landing on the loch. Sea Eagles can be seen just off the coast and Golden Eagles over the mountains. You can watch Goldfinches browse in the garden and on still days you can hear woodpeckers and cuckoo whilst sitting on on the balcony.  Herons patiently wait at the waters edge for their unsuspecting prey whilst mergansers seek out their slippery targets. The Argyll Bird Club will help you identify good places for watching birds locally. Hen harriers can be seen at the Moine Mhor National Nature Reserve 12 miles south of Ardfern.

Whales and Dolphins

These can be seen, particularly during the summer months, at the mouth of Loch Craignish.
